Photo Story: Eternal Floating Star

Having stayed in Hong Kong for over seven years, I unconsciously fall in love with this distinguished local transportation – Star Ferry.

In daytime, she is an iconic ferry crossing Vitoria harbour. At night, she is a shining star floating on the sea. Three dollars, ten minutes, Star Ferry contains more than a hundred year of Hong Kong history, witnessing the changes of the people, and this legendary city.

I enjoy every journey accompanying with Star Ferry.  Walking from Central station to Pier 7, you will firstly cross a long bridge in navy blue.  Then a characteristic clock tower emerges in full view. It is the well-known Central Pier. Even though the pier had been relocated in 2006, Star Ferry is still one of the most popular cross-harbour transportation in Hong Kong. Its relaxing, comfortable and delighting travel experience gives visitors an invaluable opportunity to sightsee the dazzling skyscrapers with a vast structure of steel and glass, experiencing the unique journey in concrete jungles.

Unlike the other kinds of cross-harbour transportation in Hong Kong, Star Ferry is much closer to people with nostalgia. Sometimes, it is not uncommon to see sailors trying to make conversation with passengers. Ranging from the local news to the foreign cultures, they shorten the distance with passengers and meanwhile fill this little floating star with love.
